Yoga helps each Yoga practitioner to create inner harmony and balance, because it is based on a holistic concept of oneness of body and mind. Yoga teaches that when the mind is under control, the body is under control, too.
The variety of Yoga postures are called asanas. They aim to keep up a sane mind and a sound body. Asanas have strong healing effects. They are could enhance healing of many illnesses and prevent a number of others. Yogic Asanas improve functions of the major internal organs and systems – the cardiovascular system, the nervous system, the digestive apparatus, the urinary system. In addition, asanas regulate human body's hormonal and energy balance and its metabolism as well. They enhance concentration and stimulate brain activities, have anti-ageing effects, strengthen the spine, increase muscle strength and respiratory endurance, develop flexibility and stamina. Joints, muscles and tendons become more flexible. Human body is sculpted and made proportional and athletic. Muscle stretching done during asanas empowers relaxation, and provides energy and vital force.
